Tassie Cantrell is a physical therapist and CEO and President of the Cantrell Center.
Educational Background:
Tassie has a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Physiology from the University of Georgia. Following this, she received her Master’s Degree from Emory University in Physical Therapy. Tassie has extensive continuing educations including studies in rehabilitation of the back, neck and peripheral joints, Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation, Postural Restoration, myofascial release/soft tissue mobilization.
Tassie has been a long-time member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and the Physical Therapy Association of Georgia (PTAG). She also serves on the Board of Directors for Physical Therapy Provider Network (PTPN) and Quality Assurance for many years.
Where did you grow up? Savannah, Georgia
What brought you to Warner Robins?
After finishing PT school, Tassie worked at Emory University Hospital for 4 years and taught for the graduate program in Physical Therapy. After working for a teaching hospital and totally revamping and directing a physical therapy program in Elberton, Georgia, Tassie knew she needed to be able to treat patients in an unencumbered environment. Every patient has unique needs and concerns and those are best addressed by the physical therapist, one-on-one. NO COOKIE-CUTTER treatments. So, after moving to Warner Robins, the Cantrell Center for Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine opened in 1992.
What do you like doing in your free time?
Tassie loves exercising, reading, traveling, and being with family.
Interesting Fact: Tassie is of Greek Heritage and she speaks Greek fluently. Tassie loves sharing this heritage with middle Georgians at the Annual Greek Festival. It is usually held in October at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church in Macon. There’s incredible food (yes, Tassie cooks), music, and dancing (yes, Tassie dances too!). The weekend is great so watch for it and come!
What do you love most about your job at the Cantrell Center?
“I love helping people get their lives back. I love the family that I have in the professionals I work with.”
Tassie has served as the Secretary and President on the Parish Council of Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church and is a member of the National and Local Philoptochos Society. She also serves on the board of the Central Georgia Greek Festival.
As you may know, Tassie has three beautiful children and is the mother of Miss America 2016 Betty Cantrell whose platform was “Healthy Georgia, Strong America.” Tassie and Betty have dedicated their time to raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital in Macon.
In 2017, in recognitions of her contributions to the success of women pursuing a career in physical therapy and mentoring many other women across the state, Tassie was of awarded the state of Georgia’s Woman of Achievement Award, presented by the Georgia Federation of Business & Professional Women’s Clubs, Inc.
