Helloooo! My name is Sunshine Walton and before you ask, yes that is my real name. J You can call me Sunny, Moonlight, Rain, Summer, etc. I guarantee you I will respond to it all. I am a new but familiar face here at the Cantrell Center. If you have seen me this summer of 2019, you will know that I was interning for two months and because you all loved me, they decided to let me stay. I am the newest Physical Therapy Aide and happy to be a member of a family I have always dreamed about being a part of. Fun fact: I toured the Cantrell Center my senior year of high school in 2015 and always told myself I would come back to work here. Like my grandmother always says, “One step at a time, just keep flying like an Eagle”. I was born in Newark, NJ but raised in Warner Robins, GA. I am a Northside High School Alumni c/o 2015…Go Eagles!! I shook off my pride and let the red and black cover me as I traveled south to become a Valdosta State Blazer. There I received my B.S. of Exercise Physiology. While in Valdosta, I got my first job as a Lifeguard at Wild Adventures and previous job at the Senior Recreation Center as an aide. Also, I currently work at Sonny’s BBQ as a server.
What do I like to do besides work? I love catching up on some of my favorite shows; I am currently binge watching Vampire Diaries until Grey’s Anatomy airs again. I love spending time with the family because after being away for four years, it is nice to rekindle our bond. Also, I love learning and teaching myself new things; I am currently self-teaching myself the guitar, but don’t ask me to play, I have a long ways to go. My prize possession is my literature in my poetry. I spend most of my late nights writing and reading poetry.
What do you love most about your job at the Cantrell Center? I love the fight and motivation in the members and patients. From the first day of my internship, I have seen and heard about marvelous results in the members/patients health. I love to see people fight for a better quality of life, knowing how easy it is to give up. The desire to live longer, stronger and better is the drive of these individuals. It is important as an aide to give a great impression and welcoming feel to our members/patients so they feel at home!
