Aquatic Therapy

Aquatic Therapy- Pool

Aquatic Physical Therapy involves the use of the buoyancy and/or resistance of water to aid in treating those patients who might not normally benefit from, or should not access land-based therapies. While this form of physical therapy may be new to Warner Robins it's "old hat" to us here at The Cantrell Center for Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine. Our physical therapists have understood for years the importance of this form of treatment. After all, that's why we built an indoor pool in the first place.

Aquatic physical therapy is different than water aerobics, lap swim, or simply playing in the water. Patients receiving aquatic therapy are closely supervised by their physical therapist as diagnosis-specific treatment is carried out in the unique, nearly gravity-eliminated environment. This is especially beneficial for certain types of orthopedic and neurological disorders. The pediatric population can also benefit immeasurably.
